How To Make Garlic Fried Rice

Start with cold, day-old rice—its slightly dried-out texture is perfect for frying.

Heat 1–2 teaspoons of oil in a skillet over medium heat.

Add 3–4 cloves of finely minced garlic and sauté until golden and fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

Toss in the rice, breaking up any clumps with your spatula, and stir-fry for 3–5 minutes until heated through and slightly crisp.

Season with a splash of soy sauce for extra umami.

Optional: Add chopped green onions, stir in a beaten egg, or top with a fried egg or leftover protein for a heartier meal.

Serve hot and enjoy a quick, garlicky comfort dish made just for you.
