Hummus w/ Chili Lime Shrimp

Hummus with Chili Lime Shrimp

A simple appetizer paired with succulent and seasoned shrimp. This could even be a main dish if you add on some pita !

Equipment

  • 1 Blender
  • 1 Skillet

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cans Chickpeas drained
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 3 tbsp sea salt
  • juice of half a lemon
  • 4 ice cubes
  • 3 garlic cloves rinsed
  • cup olive oil
  • ½ lb shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp lime pepper
  • smoked paprika for serving

Instructions
 

  • To a blender or food processor, add in chickpeas, garlic cloves, lemon juice, cumin, salt, pepper, and ice cubes. Blend until smooth, then drizzle in half of olive oil. Salt to taste and remove from blender.
  • To a bowl, season shrimp with chili powder and lime pepper seasoning.
  • To a skillet on medium-high heat, add remaining oil and sear shrimp on both sides for 1.5 minutes per side. Remove from pan and cut in half long ways to have two thin pieces of shrimp.
  • On a plate, arrange hummus to have a divot in the middle. Add shrimp and garnish with parsley, paprika, and olive oil. Serve immediately
