What Is Mango Chow ?
Mango chow is a mango salad with garlic, culantro, scotch bonnet pepper, lime juice and salt. This mix is typically made in the Caribbean, specifically Trinidad. I grew up eating this salad, and whenever I see ripe mangos in stores, I have to get a whole bunch and make a giant batch of this to enjoy.
What Does It Taste Like ?
The flavor profile is very interesting in this dish . As listed above and below, there’s mango, garlic, cilantro, and scotch bonnet. All of these ingredients have their own unique flavor profiles. Garlic is pungent, mango is sweet, cilantro is earthy, and scotch bonnet is spicy. When all of these ingredients come together and sprinkled with lime and salt, it creates the PERFECT balance of sweet, spicy, salty, and acidic.
