Butterfly Salmon
This easy hack will turn a salmon filet into a mock salmon steak in no time. Between the presentation and ease of this hack, this is easily your new favorite way to make salmon.
How to Actually Butterfly Salmon
Step by step:
- Cut a slit down the center of the salmon, but not all the way through the flesh.
- Take the pieces of salmon on either side of the slit and turn them away from each other, creating a butterfly effect.
- Check the aesthetics of the salmon and make the slit deeper if needed so that the salmon lays flush to a flat surface.
Butterfly Salmon
Ingredients
- 2 salmon filets skin is optional
- 2 tbsp all purpose seasoning
- 1 tsp paprika
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- juice of half a lemon
Instructions
- On a cutting board, make a slit about 3/4 of the way through the salmon, running the whole length of the filet. Turn both sides of the salmon away from each other, almost as if you're turning it inside out2 salmon filets
- Drizzle with oil and seasonings. Massage well. To a cast iron skillet on medium high heat, sear salmon on both sides for about 3 minutes each
- Toss in unsalted butter, and finish cooking the salmon in the oven on 350℉ for about 10 minutes.
- Serve immediately and enjoy
