French 75 Cocktail
French 75 is my second favorite cocktail. Its a perfect balance, between bubbles, citrus, and a good strong cocktail. There’s so many variations of it, and I recently made a spooky version for Halloween featuring violet food coloring and edible glitter. The French 75 features a harmonious blend of flavors. The gin provides a botanical base, often infused with notes of juniper, citrus, and herbs. The fresh lemon juice adds a bright, tangy acidity that cuts through the sweetness of the sugar, creating a refreshing contrast. When topped with Champagne, the drink gains a layer of effervescence, contributing to a crisp and lively mouthfeel. The combination results in a cocktail that is both refreshing and invigorating, with a zesty finish that lingers delightfully. Overall, it’s a balanced and elegant drink that showcases the interplay of botanical, citrus, and bubbly flavors.

Why I use St. Germain in French 75 Cocktails
Using St. Germain in a French 75 adds a delightful floral twist to the classic recipe. This elderflower liqueur brings a sweet, fragrant note that complements the gin and lemon juice beautifully. Alternatively to St. Germain, you can use simple syrup, but you will not have the floral notes in the drink.
The result is a more complex flavor profile, with the elderflower enhancing the botanical elements of the gin and adding an extra layer of sweetness. It’s a great way to elevate the cocktail, making it even more refreshing and aromatic—perfect for spring or summer gatherings!
