Chopped Cheese Wontons

Crispy wontons filled with the classic New York chopped cheese filling

Equipment

  • 1 Deep fryer
  • 1 Skillet

Ingredients
  

  • 3 qts Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20
  • 1/2 lb American cheese
  • 1/2 yellow onion finely diced
  • 1 package wonton wrappers
  • 1 package Sazon
  • 2 tsbp Adobo
  • 1 tbsp black pepper

Truffle Mayo-chup

  • 1 cup Mayo
  • 1/2 cup Ketchup
  • 1 tsp truffle salt
  • 1 tsp truffle oil

Instructions
 

  • To a skillet on medium-high heat, add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain meat and return to skillet.
  • Add onions, garlic, cook until translucent. Add in your seasonings and cheese. Mix until cheese is melted. Remove from heat.
  • One by one, wet the edges of the wonton wrapper with water
  • Scoop about 2 tbsp. of filling onto the wonton wrapper and pinch all of the edges upward and together to form a wonton
  • To a deep fryer set at 355 degrees, add in wontons, but don't overcrowd the pot. Fry for 1.5 minute or until golden brown. Remove and set on a rack to drain.

Truffle Mayo-chup

  • To a bowl, add mayo, ketchup, truffle salt, truffle oil, and black pepper. Mix well to combine. Serve alongside wontons
